PROFILE

Anna studied Social Anthropology at Christ’s College Cambridge and then went on to train in dance and then movement at Central School of Speech and Drama. She has worked across theatre, opera and dance and her work has been shown on the West End, the National, the Royal Shakespeare Company, the Royal Opera House, the Young Vic and the Old Vic as well as many major regional venues and internationally. As a director and maker of her own work Anna has been commissioned to make dance theatre pieces by the RSC and spent a year as Artist in Residence with Historic Royal Palaces. She has worked on many large scale events and public artworks including the London 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony,We Are Here (Jeremy Deller, NT) and Beyond The Deepening Shadows (Tower of London).

EDUCATION PRACTICE

I have been an RSC Education Associate and Globe Ed Associate Practitioner for many years and also led workshops for the learning departments for the Old Vic and the Royal Opera House. I am the author of the Directorial Resources for a new Songbook produced by the Royal Opera House. As a teacher and education practitioner I have worked with actors in conservatoire training at CSSD and have continued a close relationship with the school as an Visiting Lecturer working on the BA and MA Acting Course and MA Movement Studies as well as teaching for University of East London and University of London and teaching at Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

INFORMAL TRAINING

I have continued to my own training to further my practice and knowledge of different body practices. I have studied Yoga in India, trained in Viewpoints and Suzuki with Anne Boghart and SITI Company in New York, resident dance intensives with Adventures in Motion Pictures, Tavaziva Dance Company, Protein Dance and contact improvisation. I have danced with Covent Garden Minuet Company, Folk Dance workshops at Cecil Sharp House, German Tanztheater. As well as these experiences I have regularly attended class in contemporary dance technique since 2002 (Central School of Ballet and The Place), regular attendence to Feldenkrais classes since 2006, regular attendence to different Yoga practices (Ashtanga, Vinyasa and Restorative Yoga) at Triyoga since 2005.
